PG Hunter Cattoor Commits to Virginia Tech

VT Students Against Ole Miss 1
After less than two weeks at the helm, Mike Young has landed his first commit in former Wofford signee Hunter Cattoor. https://twitter.com/CattoorHunter/status/1119606189283844096 Cattoor, the Orlando, FL point guard, chose the Hokies over a collection of solid offers from power conference high mid-major programs including UCF and Davidson along with multiple others team that made the NCAA Tournament this past season including Belmont, Bradley, and Wofford. Cattoor is one of two 2019 commits currently for Virginia Tech along with four-star SF/PF Emanuel Miller. This decision comes as Cattoor is currently on an official visit to Virginia Tech after recently receiving his release from Wofford followed by an offer from the Hokies. He had this to say about why he chose to commit to Virginia Tech. "The coaching staff believed in me, I felt comfortable around the players and it just felt like the right fit for me," Cattoor said. Additionally, Hunter Cattoor has built up a strong trust in head coach Mike Young that paid dividends in his decision today. "It was very important to me. He wants to make me the best person I can be on and off the court and I trust him with that," Cattoor said on the importance of his relationship with Young in his decision. Cattoor helped lead his high school Bishop Moore Catholic to what Cattoor described as the "best season in program history" averaging 20 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 steals per game. Cattoor was seen as one of the better high mid-major signees previously receiving lots of praise from Justin Young of HoopSeen who had this to say when Cattoor previously signed with Wofford. "They (Wofford) returned to the Sunshine State and grabbed a player who should have a big impact during his tenure in college with (Hunter) Cattoor. He’s a versatile guard who can score or beat you with his smarts. Cattoor was an anchor for the uber-successful Team M.O.A.M. program that dominated our HoopSeen platform in 2018."
