2021 DB Jordan Burrell Recaps His Virginia Tech Visit

Jordan Burrell April 2019
Virginia Tech football has hosted several talented recruits this week including 2021 DB Jordan Burrell (along with his brother, 2021 four-star WR Joshua Burrell). Burrell's visit went quite well with Burrell telling us that "it was great to get back to Blacksburg!" https://twitter.com/JBurrell03/status/1118660721057910784 Burrell was busy during his short visit to Blacksburg spending time with coaches and seeing all of campus from athletic facilities to the academic side and more. "We started with practice, then toured academic building, toured the weight room, had a photoshoot, had lunch on campus, and lastly spoke to the coaches some more before we left," Burrell said. Burrell got to specifically spend some time with Justin Fuente, safeties coach Justin Hamilton, and TEs coach James Shibest, his area recruiter. That relational portion of his visit stood out the most for Burrell. "Definitely meeting the new position coach for safeties and building on my relationship with Coach Fuente and Shibest," Burrell said on what stood out for him. Burrell didn't have the opportunity to spend a lot of time with Justin Hamilton, but came away impressed while learning a few things from what he saw during practice. "My time was very short after practice because they had to watch film but I liked his coaching style. Throughout practice, I learned some things that I can also use in my game," Burrell said. Burrell is also building a strong relationship with Justin Fuente that Burrell believes will only get better over time. "It’s good and will continually get better once contact can be made in September of my junior year. He’s always reminding me to get better and mold into a great football player," Burrell said about his relationship with Fuente. However, the strongest relationship he's built is with TEs coach James Shibest who has led the charge on his recruitment so far mentioning that it's the "best" relationship he has with a VT coach in part because Shibest is the one whom Burrell sees the most. So how did this visit impact Burrell's recruitment and his view of Virginia Tech? "It only made me stand firm on that Virginia Tech is a great place to be," Burrell said. For now, it appears clear that the Hokies are going to be a top contender for Jordan Burrell when he makes his collegiate decision.
