Virginia Tech will be taking advantage of the new ACC Network early next season. Two of the Hokies’ first three games will be broadcast on the conference’s new broadcast network, the ACC announced on Wednesday.
Virginia Tech will open the season on the road against Boston College on August 31st. The Hokies will kick off against the Eagles at 4 p.m. that Saturday in what will be one of the first games televised on the network.
This will mark the second season in a row that Tech opens against an ACC opponent. The team traveled to Tallahassee last season to take on Florida State in the season opener, defeating the Seminoles 24-3. The matchup against Boston College will have a little less hype surrounding it as both teams will enter the season unranked, but it’ll be an important conference showdown nonetheless.
Two weeks later, Tech will host Furman in Blacksburg as part of four games that will be broadcast on the ACC Network that week. The Hokies will kick off against the Paladins at 12 p.m. that Saturday. The game against Furman will be the first of two games against FCS opponents that Tech will play this year, as the Hokies also host Rhode Island on Oct. 12.
The Hokies will be one of 11 conference teams to be featured on the ACC Network over the first three weeks of the 2019 season and one of five conference games during that timespan.
