Numbers may be tight for Virginia Tech, but the Hokies are likely to add a few defensive backs this cycle with three-star safety Beau Brade being among the top targets. Heading into the summer, the Hokies are among five schools currently standing out for Brade.
Brade told us that Virginia Tech is standing out in his recruitment along with Michigan, North Carolina, Maryland, and Wake Forest. When asked why the Hokies are standing for him, Brade told us that it’s because the “team is like a family and how everyone is proud to be a Hokie.”
Brade added that Virginia Tech, Maryland, and Wake Forest are the schools that are currently recruiting him the hardest. The Hokies also have a close connection to Brade as he told us that his father is an alum of Virginia Tech.
While Brade doesn’t have any summer visits currently scheduled, he did visit Blacksburg at the beginning of May and had this to say about the visit as a whole.
“It was great and my mom finally got to come down too and she liked it also,” Brade said.
While on his visit, Beau Brade spent time with head coach Justin Fuente and safeties coach Justin Hamilton while also getting to tour the business school and participate in a photo shoot.
During his time with safeties coach Justin Hamilton, Brade had a chance to see how Hamilton feels Brade would fit with the Hokies.
“It was good, we went over some formations and where he thinks I would fit in the defense,” Brade said about his conversation with Justin Hamilton.
Beau Brade also added that he’s built a “very close” relationship with Hamilton in part because of how Hamilton was recruiting Brade “for a while” before the Hokies offered him.
His conversation with head coach Justin Fuente was one of the big agenda items of the day and also went quite well according to Brade.
“It was great. He talked about how the team’s future potential is huge because of his young team and how close they’ve grown,” Brade said.
The close relationship that Fuente mentioned to Brade was also something that stood out to the talented safety upon reflecting on what stood out during his visit.
“The way the players feel about the coaches, how everyone there has Hokie pride, and the team’s interactions with each other,” Brade said about what stood out during his visit.
Looking ahead, Beau Brade told us that he plans to make a commitment sometime during mid to late summer and told us that he is looking to “find a place where I feel like I can succeed and that feels like home.”
Virginia Tech is making a strong impression on Beau Brade with the Hokies emerging as a clear top contender in his recruitment.
