Virginia Tech gained some recruiting momentum in the 757 today as three-star RB CJ Beasley committed to the Hokies over Tennessee and Pittsburgh.

Beasley is Virginia Tech’s fourth 2020 commit joining four-star WR Jalin Hyatt, three-star LB Tyreem Powell, and three-star QB Noah Kim. Beasley is also the second in-state commitment for the Hokies in the 2020 class alongside Noah Kim.
CJ Beasley may not be the highest-rated tailback, but he’s proven to be very productive after running for 1,778 yards and 19 touchdowns while averaging 12.1 yards per carry this past season. Additionally, Beasley has proven to bring the versatility that the Hokies look for in running backs after having 18 receptions for 424 yards and 4 touchdowns in 2018. The one concern is with Beasley’s size but his versatility definitely helps his fit with the Hokies while VT has had some success with Deshawn McClease, another undersized back with speed and versatility.
Beasley is a big addition for the Hokies in a year where the 757 is as big of a priority as ever with two of VT’s top targets being four-star WR KeAndre Lambert (who is teammates with Beasley at Maury HS) and four-star DE Antwaun Powell. Beasley’s commitment also should be able to help in some sort of way in their pursuit of his teammate KeAndre Lambert with the magnitude being unknown at this point.
