“I was happy and blown away like I knew it was coming but I was just so excited it came,” Simeon Barrow Jr said about his reaction to receiving a Virginia Tech offer.
Because of the Hokies’ decision to offer, Virginia Tech is now right around the top of the list for Barrow.
“Virginia Tech is very high on my list and I mean it’s just opening up more doors being that they are one of the top ACC football teams,” Barrow said on the impact of receiving a Virginia Tech offer.
Barrow also considers Virginia Tech one of the top schools standing out in his recruitment alongside Michigan State, Tennessee, Georgia (who hasn’t offered), and Georgia Southern. Why are the Hokies currently standing out?
“It’s a nice place, they have a great team, academics are on point and it’s just a great place to be at,” Barrow said.
The Hokies offered Barrow both as a defensive end or a defensive tackle and though Barrow does like DE a little more, he told us that above that, he’s the “type to play wherever I’m needed.”
Barrow plans to visit Virginia Tech on June 8th, his second visit to Blacksburg in a six-week period after previously visiting the Hokies on April 27th, a visit that went quite well.
“It was an awesome place, what a beautiful campus and just a lot of great things to say,” Barrow said about his visit.
There was also plenty that stood out to Barrow during his time on campus.
“Well the facility snatched my eye and how they do things such as how the players and everyone is ready to go at any point in time, they are always on go,” Barrow said.
With the Hokies being patient on offering Barrow, it’s clear that they see the Georgia native as a top defensive line target whether that’s at defensive end or defensive tackle.
For now, Virginia Tech has the momentum in the recruitment of Simeon Barrow Jr with a great chance to grow their momentum when he makes his second visit in 6 weeks on the second Saturday of June.
