Justin Fuente and Virginia Tech have been busy on the recruiting trail sending out a significant number of offers this spring. The Hokies have also gained some traction with a fair amount of those offered recruits including 2021 DB Javon McIntyre.
A 6-foot, 187 pound prospect out of Philadelphia, McIntyre tells us he has set a visit to Blacksburg on July 27th. While the visit is still over a month away, he is already thinking about what he hopes to get out of his time on campus.
“I’m hoping for Virginia Tech to feel like my second home and to get a chance to see the brotherhood,” McIntyre said.
McIntyre says he was happy with the way he played last season. He recorded 54 tackles, 8 deflections, and 1 interception during his sophomore campaign. Yet even more than the numbers, McIntyre believes that his play speaks for itself.
“I’m a versatile safety,” he said. “I can stick slots, tight ends, and running backs. Put me as the single high safety and I make plays.”
McIntyre currently holds offers from six Power 5 schools. Even though it is still early in the process, he says Virginia Tech is recruiting him the hardest.
Virginia Tech has had some success recruiting in the state of Pennsylvania including in the Philadelphia area after adding WR Darryle Simmons in their 2018 class. Now, the Hokies are off to a solid start with Javon McIntyre, but have a lot of work ahead.
Virginia Tech has gained some traction with McIntyre as the Hokies will look to build on that when he visits Blacksburg in late July.
