Ahmed Hill gets an opportunity with the Brooklyn Nets.

Ahmed Hill Receives Summer League Opportunity With the Brooklyn Nets

After going undrafted Thursday night, Virginia Tech guard Ahmed Hill has received a Summer League opportunity from the Brooklyn Nets.

Hill will join a Brooklyn team that is likely going to look to their Summer League and training camp invites to fill out their roster especially if the Nets land one of the top free agents on the market. Hill is the third Hokie to receive an NBA opportunity after Nickeil Alexander-Walker was selected 17th overall by the New Orleans Pelicans and Justin Robinson received a multi-year deal with a substantial guarantee from the Washington Wizards.

Given the fact the Nets only made two second round selections in center Nic Claxton and guard Jaylen Hands, there should be plenty of opportunity not only for Hill to receive playing time but also to earn a spot on the roster. It remains to be seen though whether Hill will be able to overcame and earn himself a spot whether that’s via a two-way contract or more guaranteed deal.

Hill could face former teammate Justin Robinson as the Nets are scheduled to face Robinson and the Washington Wizards on July 8th at 5:30pm on NBATV in Summer League action. This won’t be the only Summer League matchup between Hokies as Robinson and the Wizards will take on Nickeil Alexander-Walker and the New Orleans Pelicans on June 6th at 10pm on ESPN.

For his Virginia Tech career, Hill averaged 11.0 points and 3.4 rebounds while shooting 44.5% from the field and 39% from three-point range, starting 116 games during his time in Blacksburg. Hill’s most productive season came this past season averaging 13.1 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 1.3 assists while shooting 44.3% from the field, 39.1% from three-point range, and 81.2% from the free-throw line.
