2024 OL Anthonie Knapp Discusses Virginia Tech Offer

Virginia Tech has sent out some new offers as the fall has progressed and new intriguing talents have emerged including one to 2024 offensive lineman Anthonie Knapp out of Roswell, GA.

Knapp had this to say about his reaction to receiving an offer from the Hokies.

"After the FaceTime call, I was extremely excited and I couldn’t wait to tell my loved ones because I knew they would be proud," Knapp said.

His FaceTime call was primarily with grad assistant Austin Fields before offensive line coach Joe Rudolph joined the call to extend the offer as Knapp told us. He added this on how his conversation with Rudolph and Fields went as a whole.

"It was a great conversation, they do a great job of explaining what they see in me as an offensive linemen. It wasn’t like any offer I’ve ever had where the coach doesn’t show any interest after offering," Knapp said.

Tech's interest didn't come out of nowhere with coaches and recruits both in contact with Knapp.

"An extreme amount. I would have different recruits check in with me throughout the week followed by calls with coaches and the hand written letters I would receive," Knapp said.

Knapp has visited Virginia Tech for a camp with the Roswell, GA standout working at tackle and guard but having an idea about where Joe Rudolph may think his best spot along the OL is.

"During the camp, they had me play every position besides center where I got a chance to show my versatility, but I think coach Rudolph sees me as an offensive tackle," Knapp said.

So far, Knapp has offers from Virginia Tech, Charlotte, and Massachusetts with Houston, Tulane, Toledo, Coastal Carolina, Georgia Southern, and Middle Tennessee also showing this offer though more Power 5 interest seems certain to come.

However, the Hokies were the first Power 5 school to offer him which means a lot to Knapp and his recruitment.

"I feel as if this offer is a great way to begin my recruitment because Virginia Tech has so much to offer as a program through football and education, and I have strong hopes for Virginia Tech in the future because it is a school I have always had a lot of interest in," Knapp said.

Virginia Tech has made a strong, early impression on Anthonie Knapp who is a name to watch now in what seems likely to be a large offensive line class for the Hokies in 2024.
