Virginia Tech Makes the Top 4 For Four-Star S Ja'Qurious Conley

Ja'Qurious Conley has emerged as one of the top 2020 recruits in the state of North Carolina with Virginia Tech prioritizing him and making the cut in his recruitment. The Hokies were joined by ACC Coastal rivals North Carolina and Duke along with nearby SEC program South Carolina. Several Power 5 offers were not included in Conley's top 4 including in-state NC State and Wake Forest, Nebraska, Louisville, Tennessee, and more. Virginia Tech has had success recruiting players out of Conley's hometown of Jacksonville, NC with VT previously signing Jacksonville, NC native Jimmie Taylor in 2016, Justin Fuente's first signed class as the Hokies' head coach. Conley has been very quiet about his recruitment rarely talking to the media so it's hard to get much of a direction about where his recruitment could be headed. However, it has to be encouraging to the Hokies, and the other 3 teams, to make such a small cut in an era where top 10 and 15s are commonplace. Conley is the type of home run recruit that the Hokies desperately need to add to a 2020 class that is in need of some star power along with more help on the defensive side of the ball with only 2 defensive commits currently in three-star LB Tyreem Powell and three-star ATH Lakeem Rudolph (who VT recruited to play DB). Virginia Tech is also gaining 2020 momentum in the state of North Carolina as VT is also a top contender for three-star DE Stephen Sings in addition to making Conley's top 4. The Hokies are in a great position for four-star S Ja'Qurious Conley, but still have lots of work ahead to land one of their top 2020 targets.
