2019 Four-Star TE Hayden Rucci Receiving Lots of Interest From Virginia Tech

Helmet 1
Hayden Rucci is headed to Blacksburg this weekend as part of the Hokies' Junior Day. The four-star TE hasn't been offered by Virginia Tech just yet, but the Hokies are showing plenty of interest in him. Recently, we caught up with Rucci to ask him about his recruitment ahead of his second visit to Blacksburg. Hayden Rucci told us that Virginia Tech, Wisconsin, Michigan State, Northwestern, Duke, and Syracuse are the big schools standing out in his recruitment. VT is the only ones of those schools who hasn't offered yet though that may change soon. Rucci also told us that he already plans to take official visits to Michigan State and Wisconsin this spring while the Spartans and Duke are recruiting him the hardest. Rucci's visit will be his second trip to Blacksburg after he visited the Sunday after the UNC game. Rucci told us that his first visit was "good" and that it has made him "excited" for this visit. He told us that he got to tour the facilities and take in practice where Rucci was impressed by "the energy all the players and coaches had at practice even with playing a game the day before." Rucci is rated as a four-star recruit by Rivals and the 247 Sports Composite while ESPN and 247 Sports rate him as a three-star recruit. The Pennsylvanian is one of the top recruits in the Keystone State as Rivals ranks him second, 247 Sports ranks him ninth, and the 247 Sports Composite ranks him third. The 247 Sports Composite and Rivals both have him as one of the top TEs in the country while Rivals ranks him 204th among all 2019 recruits. His offer list currently includes plenty of quality power 5 schools.
  • Big 10: Michigan State, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Northwestern, Indiana, Rutgers
  • ACC: Duke, Wake Forest, Boston College, Virginia, Syracuse
  • Big 12: West Virginia
Rucci told us that he is looking to make his decision after taking official visits this spring. If the Hokies offer Rucci, he told us that VT would be a "high contender" to receive an official visit and would "definitely be in the running" for his commitment. Hayden Rucci may not have a Hokies' offer yet, but that may be about to change as he heads to Blacksburg for his second visit. If it does, Virginia Tech will immediately become one of the top contenders for the talented Pennsylvania tight end.
