Tremaine Edmunds Selected 16th Overall By The Buffalo Bills In The 2018 NFL Draft

Tremaine Edmunds 3 1
Justin Fuente and Virginia Tech have had lots of success on the field over the past two seasons, but the Hokies had no players selected during the first five rounds in last year's draft. However, that's changing this year in a big way with Tremaine Edmunds set to become Virginia Tech's first opening round pick since Kyle Fuller in 2014. Not only was Edmunds picked in the first round, but he also became the second VT linebacker selected in the first round. Tremaine Edmunds was selected 16th overall by the Buffalo Bills in the 2018 NFL Draft. Edmunds was fantastic in his two seasons as a starter with at least 106 tackles in both seasons while also having 32.5 tackles for loss, 9.5 sacks, and 4 forced fumbles. He also earned All-ACC Second Team honors in 2016, and All-ACC First Team honors and AP Third Team All-American honors in 2017. With his selection, Edmunds is the first Hokie selected in the first round during Justin Fuente's tenure, first opening round pick from VT since Kyle Fuller in 2014, and second Virginia Tech LB to ever be selected in the first round joining Mike Johnson (1984-18th overall pick). The ceiling appears limitless for Tremaine Edmunds given his incredible size and athleticism combined with his proven productivity. The craziest part of it all may be the fact that Edmunds is only 19 years old and that he earned All-ACC honors as an 18 and 19 year old along with All-American honors at 19. The sky is the limit may be one of the biggest cliches out there, but for Tremaine Edmunds, the sky truly appears to be the limit. For the Buffalo Bills, they have made one of the best picks of the night, making a bold move to trade up for the second time this evening to go get a future star. Congrats to Tremaine Edmunds on being selected in the 2018 NFL Draft.
