“My visit was amazing. Like I tell everyone, it feels like the first time every time,” Cone told us about his visit.
What stood out about his visit to Blacksburg?
“My relationship with all the coaches and everyone on staff plus when I watched film with the coaches, it fits my style of play,” Cone said.
Cone’s relationship with the staff and favorable impression of Virginia Tech has been growing over the past few months including after he visited VT in the spring when they hosted Louisville in a nationally-televised game.
So how did this visit impact his recruitment?
“It had a large impact on my recruitment and my thoughts on Virginia Tech. They definitely upped their game since the last time I visited,” Cone said.
While Cone doesn’t have a leader in his recruitment, he told us that the Hokies “stand very high” in his recruitment and that he “truly loves it there.”
Looking ahead, Cone told us that he has visits scheduled to Kentucky and Louisville in early September, and Ole Miss in mid-September.
While Cone doesn’t have a public leader currently, it’s hard not to see the Hokies as the frontrunner in his recruitment. Ole Miss also appears to be a solid contender at this point while he also seems likely to gain several more major offers in the not too distant future.
Jalen Cone doesn’t plan to trim down his recruitment till next summer at the earliest with a decision likely to not come before his senior season. No matter his timetable, it’s clear that the Hokies will be a serious contender for Cone throughout his recruitment.
