Following a career game on Saturday night against Syracuse, Virginia Tech guard Justin Robinson was named ACC Player of the Week on Monday afternoon. This is Robinson’s first honor from the conference and the second time a Virginia Tech player has been honored this season. Robinson played in two games for the Hokies this week, at North Carolina on Monday and at home against Syracuse on Saturday. He scored 17 points against UNC, at that point his highest in ACC play this season. He shot 4-for-6 on field goals and 3-for-4 from three-point range as the Hokies lost 103-82. Saturday night’s performance was even better, and the team result improved as well. Robinson scored a career-high 35 points against Syracuse as the Hokies won 78-56. He shot 9-for-13 on three-pointers, setting a new school record for three-point shots in a game. He also added eight assists on the night, breaking the all-time school record for career assists with 548. Bimbo Coles previously held the record with 547. Robinson joins Nickeil Alexander-Walker as the only Virginia Tech players to be named ACC Player of the Week this season. Alexander-Walker received the honor during the week of Nov. 18. Virginia Tech returns to action on Wednesday night when the Hokies travel to Miami. Tip off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
