Virginia Tech added an experienced offensive lineman to its recruiting class on Friday as Coastal Carolina transfer Brock Hoffman announced his commitment. Hoffman made the announcement via Twitter on Friday evening. The three-star lineman said that he has made great memories and relationships at Coastal Carolina, but after serious consideration, he is choosing to make the move to Virginia Tech. Hoffman got lots of playing time during his two years with the Chanticleers, starting 12 games at center during his freshman season before starting at right guard this past season. The 6-foot-3, 310-pound lineman had offers from multiple other programs, including Appalachian State and UNC Charlotte. Virginia Tech was the first Power 5 school to extend an offer, which meant a lot to him. Hoffman told Tech Lunch Pail last month that he planned to visit Virginia Tech in the near future, but did not have a timetable for making his decision. He said he was looking for a program where he would fit in with the other players and best get prepared for taking his career to the next level. The addition to the offensive line helps the Hokies, who will be without graduating senior Braxton Pfaff next season
