Seton Hall's Kevin Willard Withdraws From the Virginia Tech Coaching Search

Khadim Sy Free Throw Attempt Against UMES
Seton Hall's Kevin Willard had emerged as the hot name connected with Virginia Tech in recent days, but news has broken this morning that Willard has removed his name from consideration. https://twitter.com/NJHoopsHaven/status/1114507245398765568 https://twitter.com/SetonHallMBB/status/1114510196527849472 There was talk as recently as yesterday that it was "50/50" as to whether Willard would stay at Seton Hall or leave for Virginia Tech. The question that will remain is how much interest did Willard really have in Virginia Tech or if the overwhelming majority of the interest came from the Virginia Tech side. Willard isn't the only candidate that has at minimum denied rumors surrounding their name being connected with the Hokies job as Steve Wojciechowski told the David Glenn Show that he is "happy" at Marquette and denied interest in leaving. https://twitter.com/DavidGlennShow/status/1113848584946974722 While that isn't as strong of a denial as Willard's, it appears pretty clear that Wojciechowski is content staying at Marquette. With Willard off the board and Wojciechowski denying interest in leaving Marquette, Virginia Tech's search may need a reset with names like Wofford's Mike Young, East Tennessee State's Steve Forbes, VCU's Mike Rhodes, UNC Greensboro's Wes Miller, and St. Bonaventure's Mark Schmidt among the potential names to watch. While Gregg Marshall and Mick Cronin likely would still be at the top of the list, Marshall would take a lot of money and convincing him coming home is worth it while Cronin seems quite loyal to Cincinnati with UCLA probably being the bigger threat after Jamie Dixon's decision to stay at TCU.
