Virginia Tech had a big weekend as the Hokies were able to end their five-game losing streak with a comfortable 67-57 victory against Pittsburgh. Additionally, the Hokies were hosting multiple talented recruits including 2022 PF/C Kel'El Ware.

During his visit, Ware received some news that got him "excited."

Not only did Ware receive a Virginia Tech offer, but he also personally received it from Mike Young.

"Coach (Chester) Frazier came up to me during the shootaround and told me to come down to the court so we shook hands. Then Coach (Mike) Young came up and shook my hand, and said I’ve been watching you play and your highlights, and then he said we’re going to offer you," Ware said.

For Ware, it not only meant a lot just to receive a Virginia Tech offer, but also to receive a VT offer directly from head coach Mike Young.

"It was shocking for the head coach to offer me. That's why it meant a lot to me," Ware said.

With this offer, the Hokies are the fourth school to offer Ware along with Arkansas, Oral Roberts, and Alcorn State. Additionally, Ware told us that he is receiving interest from multiple other programs including Auburn and Texas Tech.

That interest shouldn't be surprising given what he has had done this season as Ware told us that he is averaging 15-17 points, 12 rebounds, and 4 blocks per game. As his stats show, Ware is making it quite clear that he will be one of the most talented big man in the 2022 class.

However, being offered wasn't the only part of his visit to Blacksburg.

Ware told us that the visit as a whole was "great" as he was able to explore Virginia Tech's campus and basketball facilities. However, what stood out the most to Ware from his visit was "the fans" and especially how engaged they were in the action.

"They were loud. When you looked up there, none of them were just looking or being quiet, they all were active," Ware said.

Overall, Ware came away impressed with Virginia Tech saying that this visit "puts them higher" in his recruitment. Of course, it is very early on, but the Hokies appear poised to be a major player in Kel'El Ware's recruitment throughout the next 2 years.
