Camp season is in full swing at Virginia Tech with the Hokies extending an offer this weekend to 2024 three-star Aaris Bethea out of Erasmus Hall HS in Brooklyn, NY.
After a great camp and conversation with @CoachPryVT I am blessed to receive an offer from Virginia Tech! @HokiesFB @jcprice59 @CoachKoRush_VT @CoachVillagrana @lino_lupinetti @BrianDohn247 @ChadSimmons_ @RivalsFriedman @alexgleitman @Dannylandberg @dutchmen_ros @Chadellis91 pic.twitter.com/buF7zUZG0e

Bethea had this to say about his reaction to receiving a Virginia Tech offer after impressing Tech's coaching staff this past weekend.
"I was very excited hearing that I received an offer considering the weight that Virginia Tech holds," Bethea said.
The offer came during a conversation with head coach Brent Pry in Pry's office with Bethea expanding on how that conversation went as a whole.
"It was great! He talked about how they're building something special at Virginia Tech and that I could fit really well with the defensive schemes they run. He said my offer was a committable offer which let me know they're seriously interested in me," Bethea said.
Bethea's visit as a whole went well even though because the focus was on the camp, he didn't get to do much else. However, that was enough to leave a strong impression to have him wanting to return this fall for a more normal visit.
"I only got to see the weight room as my Dad and I were going to meet with Coach Pry. We also saw a little bit of the campus as we were leaving. I didn't get to do much because I had to catch flight back home right after the camp. I will be coming back in the fall to attend a game and hopefully see more then," Bethea said.
The Hokies join a solid offer list for Bethea that also includes Nebraska, Ole Miss, Pittsburgh, Maryland, West Virginia, Rutgers, Syracuse, and Buffalo. He's also receiving interest from Georgia, Oklahoma, Penn State, Texas A&M, Florida, and Washington.
That shouldn't come as a surprise given the promise he showed as a sophomore as he shared with us.
"I started varsity as a sophomore on one of the best, if not the best, programs in the state. I made a lot of plays including solo tackles and sacks. Our team went 12-0 and we won the PSAL Championship," Bethea said.
So how did this offer impact his recruitment and where Virginia Tech stands in it?
"Right now, it's early in the recruiting process for me, and I'm beginning to build relationships with those programs that have expressed interest and/or offered. Virginia Tech is in that mix now and I'm looking forward to getting back down in the fall for a game," Bethea said.
Aaris Bethea is one of the first camp offers of the Brent Pry era with the Hokies already off to a solid start early in Bethea's recruitment.
