Not only were there big time 2023 recruits on campus but also talented recruits in future classes beyond that including 2024 three-star LB Jordan Boyd out of Aiken, South Carolina. His visit to Virginia Tech went quite well as he shared with us.
"It was a great experience and was everything I thought it to be and more," Boyd said.
So what did Boyd do while on his multi-day visit to Blacksburg?
"Well I got to know the coaches pretty well and got to to look around campus, as well as see how practice was run on Friday. Then Saturday, I got to see what game day was like at Lane Stadium," Boyd said.
So what made it a "great experience" for Boyd?
"I enjoyed the atmosphere as well as the coaches and staff making me feel right at home," Boyd said.
Boyd spent a lot of time with recruiting assistant and former VT linebacker Jeron Gouveia-Winslow and had this to say about the time spent with Gouveia-Winslow.
"It was great! He gave me some background on the tradition and made my family and myself very comfortable," Boyd said. "The coaches, players, former players, and fans made it an overall great experience and shows they are working to be on top."
It shouldn't come as a surprise that the Hokies put in lots of effort to make sure Boyd had a good visit after the strong sophomore season he had as he told us.
"I did very well! My team made it to the state championship, but we fell short ending the season at 11-1, I was big contributor to our defense, if I wasn’t making the tackle I was following my assignments so that my teammates would be in position to make the play," Boyd said.
Additionally, Boyd told us that he had 70 tackles this past season including 13 for loss with 4 sacks in what was a strong sophomore season with lots of potential to see his recruitment take of more and more in the years to come.
So how did this visit impact Boyd's recruitment and his view of Virginia Tech?
"The visit had a big impact on my recruitment. I really loved the school, coaches, and the city of Blacksburg," Boyd said.
It may be early, but Virginia Tech is already making a strong impression on Jordan Boyd.
