2024 VA LB Chris Cole Has "Great Time" at Virginia Tech

Chris Cole July 2022 VT Visit

Virginia Tech's Hokie Fest recruiting weekend went quite well for all the talented recruits they hosted including local 2024 LB Chris Cole out of in-state football powerhouse Salem HS in Salem, VA.

"I had a great time at the Hokie Feast. Food was great, and I got a chance to learn more about the Hokie staff. I also learned more about their defense and coverages," Cole said about how his VT visit went.

So what did Cole do during his visit to Blacksburg?

"We had some really great food, the coaching staff introduced themselves and their families, we played some trivia games, and afterwards, we went up to take pictures and have position meetings," Cole said.

Cole's visit specifically included time with head coach Brent Pry, sam LBs/nickels coach Shawn Quinn, and head strength & condition coach Dwight Galt. His time with Pry went quite well as Cole shared.

"It was great, he made me feel at home. I appreciate his hospitality towards me and my family, and his vision for the team," Cole said.

His time with Shawn Quinn gave him a chance to

"The time spent with Coach Quinn was cool. He was excited to see me and my family. We talked about defense, and what him and the rest of the staff have planned for this season," Cole said.

That time with Quinn could be quite valuable since Tech is recruiting Chris Cole as a sam linebacker, giving Quinn a chance to give Cole a clear vision for how he can fit in VT's defense.

Tech's head strength coach Dwight Galt had a concise message for Cole as the Salem standout told us.

"Coach Galt is eager to work with me and hopes I join the Hokies," Cole said.

With all this context in mind, what stood out the most to Cole during his VT visit?

"How personable the staff was with me and my family," Cole said.

So how did this visit impact his recruitment and where Virginia Tech stands in it?

"This visit has definitely showed me all the reasons why VT stands on top in my recruitment options," Cole said "(VT stands on top because of) the staff, facilities, and the educational opportunities are exceptional."

The Hokies historically have landed football targets within an hour or so of Blacksburg at a very high rate, but the Hokies aren't resting on their laurels in their pursuit of Chris Cole. So far, that has Virginia Tech in a strong position in Cole's recruitment.
