The transfer portal opened on Wednesday for collegiate wrestling with Virginia Tech only having one departure so far in 141-pound starter Tom Crook. That departure was a surprise to no one given the impending arrival of arguably the most successful 21st Century high school wrestler Bo Bassett to take over the 141-pound role and immediately be a national title favorite.
One thing entering this offseason for the Hokies is the fact that next season's lineup seems largely set especially in the five lowerweights, which include a former national champion or All-American at every spot except 141. That exception is of course the aforementioned Bo Bassett who has the potential to win four national titles in four years with his talent.
So with that said, let's dive into where arguably the best lineup in Virginia Tech Wrestling's history stands entering the offseason and where the Hokies may look to make improvements at ahead of the 2026-27 season along with where the competition spots are among the upperweights.
