After weeks of speculation, the news that almost no one really wanted has hit as the ACC has voted to add Stanford, California, and SMU to the conference starting with the 2024-25 academic year.
It’s final: ACC presidents have approved expansion to add Stanford, Cal and SMU, sources tell @YahooSports, ending a month-long saga into an issue that divided the league.

The ACC was able to get the 12 votes they needed from their 15 members to get this done with NC State being rumored to flip among the four known no votes which also included North Carolina, Florida State, and Clemson.
This also means that Virginia Tech was among who was a yes vote which we previously discussed for our TLP Insiders was a strong possibility given that this was a presidential decision, not an athletics decision. If this was a decision for AD Whit Babcock and not President Tim Sands, Virginia Tech very likely votes no.
We will have more as this story develops.
