Powell told us that he had a "great" visit to Virginia Tech with the Hokies' coaching staff showing their high interest in him throughout the visit. He told us that getting to see the academic side of things within the football program was one of the things that stood out about his visit.
Powell also was able to get a great feel for the environment around the program and described it as "my type of environment." Given how important the environment can be for a recruit, this is a great sign for Virginia Tech's hopes in their pursuit of him.
While on his visit, Powell got to spend some time with VT DL Coach Charley Wiles and said that he had a "great talk" with him. Overall, Powell has a "good" relationship with Wiles with this visit appearing to strengthen it.
So how did this visit impact his recruitment and VT's standing in it?
"It gave me a lot more good info and VT is one of the top ones," Powell said.
Looking ahead, Powell currently only has a visit scheduled to Duke in two weeks though it seems likely Powell will take more visits throughout the spring.
For now, Virginia Tech is in very good shape in Powell's recruitment after a strong visit that allowed him to get a great feel for the environment surrounding the Hokies' program.
