Virginia Tech's strong transfer cycle continued Friday as the Hokies landed a commitment from Baylor rising sophomore EDGE Kamauryn Morgan.

His commitment to the Hokies comes just days after he took a visit to Blacksburg. He was a rotational edge rusher for the Bears as a true freshman this past season and had six tackles over the course of ten games. He is currently rated as a four-star recruit and ranked among the top 100 overall transfers by 247 Sports as of 4:30pm on January 9th.

He will have three years of eligibility remaining.

Morgan is the third defensive line commitment for the Hokies this transfer portal cycle, all of whom were part of the 2025 high school recruiting class with the other two being Missouri EDGE Javion Hilson and Penn State DL Daniel Jennings. All three were four-star recruits coming out of high school with Morgan being the only one to avoid a redshirt last season.

There's no doubt that the Hokies are putting the emphasis on younger talent with six of the 13 transfer commitments so far coming from players who were part of the 2025 high school recruiting class. Morgan is the only one of those six who did not redshirt this past season.

Morgan definitely has the talent to factor into Virginia Tech's defensive end rotation next season and could definitely put himself in play for a starting role depending on who else the Hokies bring in. VT's DE room is fairly thin currently with Elhadj Fall, Jason Abbey, and Aycen Stevens being the top returners from that group.
