Virginia Tech had their second wave of transfers arrive this summer featuring a pair of spring pickups in Florida DE Antwaun Powell-Ryland and Gardner-Webb OL Clayton Frady.

However, the Hokies had a third transfer arrive in VMI LB Stone Snyder who committed early in 2023 yet didn't arrive till the summer while he was finishing out classes in Lexington.

Snyder was one of the best linebackers at the FCS level earning All-American honors in each of his past three seasons in some form with the Keydets. He has been one of the best linebackers at the FCS level for years now and finally gets the chance to prove himself at the highest level of college football as he has rightly earned.

His route to Blacksburg proved to be a little unconventional though as Snyder is not on scholarship, but chose to be a walk-on. The NIL era has opened some doors for that to be affordable to Snyder with the former VMI star putting in the work to make that a financially viable option for himself given the circumstances that drew him to Blacksburg. Triumph NIL's growing reputation also appears to have helped Snyder embrace the possibility of coming to VT as a walk-on believing that once here, he could make that up and then some through NIL opportunities.

During ACC Kickoff, Virginia Tech head coach Brent Pry shared some new insights on how Snyder ended up with the Hokies.
