Virginia Tech’s Elizabeth Kitley was nationally recognized for her outstanding efforts on the hardwood this past week, winning ACC Player of the Week for the third time this season.

Kitley has now taken home the award more than anyone in the conference, a sign that she may be in the driver's seat to go back-to-back as the ACC’s Player of the Year in women’s basketball.

Kitley was exceptional in the last few games but especially in her last two outings against then ninth ranked Duke and NC State.

Last Thursday night, Kitley scored 20 points on 8-18 shooting. She also recorded 11 rebounds and four blocks en route to leading the Hokies to a statement 61-45 win over the Blue Devils. The performance was particularly impressive given the fact that Kitley struggled in the first meeting against Duke, scoring just four points on 1-9 from the field.

The reigning ACC Player of the Year outdid her own work against Duke by putting together an even better performance against rival NC State. Kitley racked up 24 points on an ultra-efficient 11-16 shooting to go along with 10 rebounds and a career-high seven blocks. Kitley was a force inside on both ends and spearheaded a Hokies' attack that overwhelmed the Wolfpack for the 75-62 victory.

With these two stellar performances, Kitley accumulated her 12th and 13th games of 20 points or more. Additionally, Kitley registered her 16th and 17th games of double digit rebounds and brought her double-double total up to 16 on the season.

The Hokies are playing their best basketball at the right time and the primary reason why is due to the fantastic play of their best player, Liz Kitley.
