Virginia Tech hosted a talented group of recruits on campus this weekend including four-star DE Devon Baxter out of Baltimore, MD. His visit went quite well as he shared with us.
"It was great, really great. I love the energy and the culture. It's truly great guys up there with a great staff and I really love the way the program is going!" Baxter said.
So what did Baxter do during his time in Blacksburg?
"I watched a great practice, talked to a couple coaches, and took some great pictures," Baxter said.
His trip to Tech also included spending time with DL coach J.C. Price with Baxter having this to say about how that went.
"It was great, me and Coach Price already have a great bond especially with him being the first coach to offer me my ninth grade year so he definitely means a lot to me when thinking about VT. It's always great to get a chance to talk and connect with him," Baxter said.
One of the most notable parts of this visit was getting to see the Hokies practice with Baxter impressed with what he saw.
"It was great to see their practice, and one thing I can definitely say is that the Hokies will definitely be a problem next year!" Baxter said.
Getting Baxter on campus and impressing him like they did is definitely huge for the Hokies as there's no doubt that he is one of their top defensive line targets in the 2024 class. That's even more true given the fact that the Hokies have plenty of strong competition given that his offer list also includes Tennessee, Michigan, Penn State, Duke, Maryland, West Virginia, and more.
So how did this visit impact his recruitment and where Virginia Tech stands in it?
"This was my first true look at VT and I loved it. So VT definitely is an option!" Baxter said.
The Hokies impressed Devon Baxter today and are clearly a contender now in his recruitment.
