However, Tyjuan Garbutt said right after he decommitted from Virginia Tech that the Hokies were still the leaders in his recruitment. Virginia Tech has kept their pursuit of Garbutt on at a very high level and now, they've been rewarded in an interesting recruitment.
Four-star DE Tyjuan Garbutt has recommitted to the Virginia Tech Hokies today after committing right after National Signing Day last year on a junior day and decommitting over the summer. Virginia Tech was the frontrunner for just about every day after he decommitted from the Hokies with Pittsburgh providing the biggest challenge to the Hokies in this recruitment.
Garbutt had a strong list of offers from all over the country that included Virginia Tech, Pittsburgh, Georgia, Florida, Michigan State, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Ole Miss, West Virginia, North Carolina, and more. Garbutt is a consensus top 10 in-state recruit and four-star recruit nationally across the board with the Hokies doing a great job keeping another top Virginia recruit.
Bud Foster has been critical in the recruitment of Garbutt as his primary recruiter and after being seen in the past as an average at best recruiter, Foster has gotten it done on the recruiting trail as the primary recruiter not only for Garbutt but also for Nathan Proctor and Dylan Rivers. Foster has done a fantastic job on the recruiting trail with his recruiting seeming to be reinvigorated by the arrival of Justin Fuente while having that continuity in the Fredericksburg area with Foster as the area recruiter also helped a lot with Garbutt.
Congrats to Tyjuan Garbutt on recommitting to Virginia Tech.
