Four-Star OL Sam Pendleton Discusses His Virginia Tech Offer

Sam Pendleton Fall 2021 VT Visit

After offering a few 2023 recruits over the weekend, Virginia Tech extended another new offer to one of the Mid-Atlantic's top offensive linemen in four-star OT Sam Pendleton out of Pfafftown, North Carolina.

Tech joins a strong offer list for Pendleton that also includes Penn State (who Pendleton says has been recruiting him the hardest), Clemson, Michigan, N.C. State, South Carolina, North Carolina, Louisville, Duke, East Carolina, and Marshall.

Pendleton had this to say about his reaction to receiving an offer from Virginia Tech.

"I was surprised and happy at the same time," Pendleton said.

Pendleton received the offer during a conversation with offensive line coach Joe Rudolph which went well as he told us.

"It was great, he is a great guy outside of coaching. He has a really great philosophy about football and life after football," Pendleton said.

Pendleton was also a big fan when news broke that Virginia Tech was hiring Joe Rudolph away from Wisconsin to be their offensive line coach.

"I think that it was a great decision on VT’s part because he is a great coach that is coming form a great o-line school," Pendleton said.

Sam Pendleton has also built up a strong high school reputation as one of the best young offensive linemen in North Carolina after a strong junior season as he shared with us.

"I was the only junior offensive linemen to be chooses to be on the 1st team 4A all state team. I finished the season with a 90 percent blocking percentage which was the highest in my school's history. I also only gave up one sack this year," Pendleton said.

So how does this offer impact Pendleton's recruitment and where VT stands in it?

"It will definitely be a great opportunity to pursue," Pendleton said.

He added that he won't know truly where the Hokies stand until he visits Blacksburg, but that's in his plans for later this spring along with a few other visits after visiting Penn State last week as he shared with us

"I’m at N.C. State and Duke this weekend and then I’m at Clemson on the 29th. I’m planning a day to get to VT soon," Pendleton said.

As Virginia Tech's 2023 targets come into picture, Sam Pendleton appears poised to be one of Joe Rudolph's top offensive line targets especially after becoming Rudolph's first new offensive line offer since his arrival in Blacksburg.
