Per the release, Scott has stepped down from the Virginia Tech coaching staff to focus on his family. Justin Hamilton, the Director of Player Development for the defense, will serve as an assistant in the interim as VT performs a search to replace Scott.
Scott was the defensive coordinator at Memphis before joining the VT coaching staff with Justin Fuente as the safeties coach. Earlier this offseason, Virginia Tech announced that Scott had received a raise and a promotion to co-defensive coordinator.
With Scott stepping down, expect Virginia Tech to look to replace him with another assistant on the defensive side of the ball.
