For the past two games, the Virginia Tech Hokies have been without starting DT Nigel Williams who suffered an ankle injury during Virginia Tech's loss to Syracuse. Despite Williams being out, the Hokies have been able to take care of business the past two weeks while also not seeing much of a drop-off in play due to the tremendous depth at the DT spot.
However, there was hope that Williams may be able to return this week especially with the Hokies having a couple extre days. Currently, Justin Fuente seems uncertain about that.

Fuente's response to the media today just shows how Williams's ankle injury may not be that severe but is the type of nagging injury that the senior defensive tackle just hasn't been able to shake. In six games before his injury, Williams had 10 tackles, 2 tackles for loss, 0.5 sacks, and 1 QB hurry in the Hokies' first 6 games and while that stat line isn't going to get him a lot of attention, the senior has been fairly steady throughout the season.
For now, the Hokies will most likely continue to start Ricky Walker as long as Williams is out with Tim Settle and Steve Sobczak being the two main backups.
