While Virginia Tech students are fighting to stay out of the rain on campus, Tech’s football team (2-2) is traveling toward the Hurricanes (4-0) as they prepare to begin ACC play and face No. 7 Miami under the lights on Friday, September 27, at 7:30 p.m. EST on ESPN.

The Hokies have not won against a top-10 team on the road since knocking off No. 8 Ohio State 35-21 in Columbus, Ohio, in 2014. For Tech to get its season back on track and pull out a road win against a Miami team that has emerged as the favorite to win the ACC, the Hokies must make some much-needed adjustments in their offense.

Here are three keys to the game for the Hokies to knock off Miami on national television.

Trust the Run Game and Protect the Football

In order to secure a victory on the road against Miami, the Hokies will need to do what they do best and hammer their run game through Bhayshul Tuten, who has been Tech’s most reliable offensive weapon all season.
