Virginia Tech had two players recognized by the ACC following its 44-21 win over Old Dominion, with tight end Luke Reynolds and defensive end Mylachi Williams earning conference Player of the Week honors.
Reynolds was named the ACC Offensive Receiver of the Week, while Williams earned ACC Defensive Lineman of the Week honors after both played major roles in helping the Hokies improve to 2-0.
Reynolds continued his strong start to the season with the best performance of his college career. The Penn State transfer caught eight passes for 108 yards and two touchdowns, setting career highs in all three categories. He averaged 13.5 yards per reception and became quarterback Ethan Grunkemeyer’s top target in the victory.
Both of Reynolds' touchdowns came during the second quarter as Virginia Tech began to pull away from the Monarchs. Grunkemeyer connected with Reynolds for touchdown passes of 10 and 16 yards in less than two minutes, helping extend the Hokies' advantage to 31-3.
Through two games, Reynolds leads Virginia Tech with 158 receiving yards and three touchdowns on 13 receptions. His performance against Old Dominion also marked the first 100-yard receiving game of his college career.
Williams was equally disruptive on the other side of the ball.
The defensive end finished the victory with 3.5 tackles for loss including two sacks plus two forced fumbles as Virginia Tech consistently pressured Old Dominion quarterback Quinn Henicle. The Hokies finished the afternoon with seven sacks and 14 tackles for loss as a team.
Williams has quickly emerged as one of the most productive members of Virginia Tech's defensive front. Through two games, the Philadelphia native has six tackles for loss and is tied for the team lead with three sacks. His first career sack came one week earlier in Virginia Tech's 73-3 season-opening victory over VMI.
The recognition gives Virginia Tech its first two ACC Player of the Week selections of the 2026 season. The Hokies are 2-0 for the first time since 2021 after outscoring VMI and Old Dominion by a combined 117-24.
Reynolds, Williams and the Hokies will now turn their attention to their first road test of the James Franklin era, traveling to Maryland for a 7:30 p.m. kickoff on Saturday, Sept. 19 on FS1.
