Virginia Tech has landed their first transfer commitment of the 2026 cycle from Penn State defensive lineman Daniel Jennings according to 247 Sports' Kolby Crawford.

Jennings was a four-star defensive line recruit in the 2025 class out of Princeton, WV and redshirted this past season. He will have four years of eligibility remaining after this season. He is currently ranked as the 247th best available transfer including the 34th best EDGE transfer by On3 as of 6:15pm on January 4th.

Jennings was listed as a defensive end for the Nittany Lions at 6'1'' and 257 pounds, but his frame could lend to him growing into a defensive tackle with similar size to Kemari Copeland for example instead of staying at defensive end. It remains to be seen whether Jennings will remain on the edge or move inside.

He is an intriguing young developmental piece who Franklin will likely be hoping can provide some good competition on the defensive line and potentially push for a rotational spot. Jennings is not someone I would expect to compete for a starting job in 2026 at this time.
