One of the defining competitions of this year's spring practice for Virginia Tech Football has been the backup quarterback competition between Pop Watson and Dylan Wittke.
The pair of redshirt freshman quarterbacks have had their ups and downs this spring with coaches stating that Wittke had the edge early on before Watson started taking the lead as the spring progressed.
That continued in the Spring Game with Watson outplaying Wittke as the Massachusetts native Watson went 13-21 for 130 passing yards and an interception while Wittke was 5-8 for 44 yards.
After the Spring Game, head coach Brent Pry shared that he feels Watson has the edge at backup quarterback leaving the spring, but wants to see the film from today.
