Richmond Star Transfer DT Kobie Turner Set to Visit Virginia Tech

With many older players moving on to the NFL, Virginia Tech may have a much younger roster next year, but the Hokies may also look to bring in some more ready-to-play talent through the transfer portal. One of those plays is standout Richmond DT Kobie Turner who is set to visit Virginia Tech.

Turner has been dominant for Richmond at DT over the past three seasons with 31.5 total tackles for loss including 13.5 sacks among his 144 tackles. That comes over the course of 27 games total which makes those very impressive numbers to say the least.

Defensive tackle does have plenty of talent returning next year with Norell Pollard, Josh Fuga, and Mario Kendricks all set to be back with young guys like Wilfried Pene behind them. However, adding another high level DT that can be a regular in the rotation alongside Pollard, Fuga, and Kendricks could be a wise move and Turner definitely on paper fits the part.

It is unclear if Turner has an offer yet from Virginia Tech though he does have offers from Minnesota, Georgia Tech, Northwestern, and more. While defensive tackle isn't a great place of need given the top 3 guys that the Hokies have, Turner does seem like a high level talent worth evaluating.

We will have more as this story develops.
