Virginia Tech extended an offer to 3-star OG RJ Adams last Wednesday. As an in-state product of Woodbridge High School, the offer has special meaning for him.
"I have a love for Virginia Tech," said Adams. "It's in state, not too far, and I like the program."
The Hokies join a growing list of suitors for the up-and-coming guard. Adams has numerous Power 5 offers, including but not limited to Florida State, North Carolina, West Virginia, NC State, and Duke. Adams said it was offensive line coach Vance Vice who informed him of this latest offer from Virginia Tech.
"Coach Vance Vice came to my workout [on January 23] and told me to call him after, so I did," he said. "He told me I had been offered over the phone." For Adams, this moment was a long time coming.
"I was really excited," he said about his reaction to the official offer. "I had been talking to the coaches for some time now."
Indeed, Vance Vice and Bud Foster had been recruiting Adams long before this offer. He has visited Blacksburg multiple times, including for junior day in February of 2018 and, most recently, to attend the Hokies home game against Miami in November.
At the moment, Adams said he has not scheduled any official visits. However, he told us that he will be "making his schedule soon." For now, the Hokies are in as good of a position as anyone in his recruitment.
