Virginia Tech Women’s Basketball has made their second transfer addition of the offseason, landing a commitment from Texas Tech F Kilah Freelon.

The 6’1’’ Freelon joins Purdue G Sophie Swanson as part of the Hokies’ transfer class. She heads to Blacksburg after spending three seasons in Lubbock during which she played in 95 games with 43 starts. This past season, Freelon averaged 4.6 points. 4.5 rebounds, and 1.1 steals in 19.9 minutes per game after averaging 7.9 points, 5.7 rebounds, 1.1 assists, and 1.1 steals in 23.4 minutes per game during the 2023-24 season.

She has one year of eligibility remaining.

Freelon is an interesting depth piece who should have the versatility to play at the three, four, or five depending on the situation. She is a very good rebounder and defender, and could prove to be a very beneficial piece when trying to hold tight leads.

It does appear that she is limited on the offensive end as she is 1-15 from three-point range in her collegiate career. That could limit some of the ways that Tech can use her.

The focus remains on adding a center for the Hokies, with Tech missing on a few top targets including Bucknell’s Ashley Sofilkanich (committed to Michigan) and LSU’s Aalyah Del Rosario (committed to Vanderbilt).
