James Franklin and Company received their 23rd member of the class of 2027 on Wednesday when Semaj Dozier committed to the Hokies.
A 6-foot-2, 175-pound athlete from Pleasantville, New Jersey, Demaj is rated as a three-star prospect by both 247Sports and On3. The services list him as the no. 20 and no. 9 player in the state, respectively.
After being recruited by Virginia Tech's cornerback coach, Nick Perry, Demaj will likely play defensive back in Blacksburg, though that could change; Demaj played on both sides of the ball last season for Pleasantville High School.
Demaj chose the Hokies over Wake Forest, Syracuse, Duke, Boston College, Pitt, Virginia, West Virginia, Wisconsin, and others. As of publication, Virginia Tech's class of 2027 is ranked as highly as ninth nationally overall by 247Sports. On3 lists the Hokies at 19th in the country.
