In what's become a busy month of recruiting for James Franklin, the Hokies added their 24th addition to the class of 2027 on Friday with the commitment of Turmarian Moreland Jr.
At 6-foot-2, 170 pounds, Moreland Jr. is a two-way player from West Palm Beach, Florida. Recruited to Virginia Tech by Anthony Midget, it's likely that he'll play safety in Blacksburg. As a junior, he tallied 45 tackles (2 TFL) and seven pass breakups on defense to go along with 10 catches for 87 yards offensively.
The Palm Beach Lakes standout is rated as a unanimous three-star prospect by, 247Sports, On3, and ESPN; the services slot him as the no. 42, no. 44, and no. 61 player in Florida, respectively. Moreland Jr. chose the Hokies over Auburn, Cal, Colorado, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Louisville, Miami, and others.
