Three-Star CB Cameren Fleming Commits to Virginia Tech

Entrance 1

Virginia Tech made another in-state recruiting splash in the Richmond landing a commitment from standout three-stat CB Cameren Fleming.

Fleming chose the Hokies over other offers from North Carolina and Minnesota where he also took official visits plus Florida State, Tennessee, Arkansas, One Miss, Washington, Wake Forest, Maryland, Indiana, Georgia Tech, West Virginia, Boston College, Duke, and more.

Fleming is the 9th in-state commitment for the Hokies this cycle and fifth from the Richmond joining S Braylon Johnson and ATH Takye Heath out of Highland Springs HS, DE ason Abbey out of Douglas S Freeman HS, and ATH Krystian Williams out of the Collegiate School.

This might be the biggest recruiting victory for the Hokies to date in the 2023 class as he has an impressive offer list with few schools if any on that list that didn't have him as a take. It's the type of offer list that makes you wonder why he's a high three-star and not a four-star.

This is also another major victory in the Richmond area with Tech's 5 commits from the 804 being the most for any class in well over a decade if not longer. WRs coach Fontel Mines has led the Richmond charge over all and deserves tons of credit along with DL coach J.C. Price who is playing a big role in 804 recruiting for VT.

CBs coach Derek Jones deserves tons of credit as well as the Hokies have landed two of their top of the board cornerback in Fleming and Dante Lovett who were both heavily recruited players by other Power 5 schools especially Fleming. Combine that with the safety group of Braylon Johnson, Thomas Williams, and Krystian Williams (who could also be a WR); and Tech has been very effective identifying and landing their priority DB targets this cycle.

With Fleming on board, the Hokies seem likely done at cornerback with Derek Jones able to focus even more on major 2024 targets including four-star 757 CB Asaad Brown Jr.

We will have more as this story develops.
