The Virginia Tech Hokie started off today well with a commitment from three-star OG John Harris, their 11th commit of the cycle, and first commit on the offensive line and from the state of Georgia. However, with the Hokies having a select group of recruits on campus, the Hokies are looking to add even more to their 11-man recruiting class and have gotten themselves a 12th commit and first commit at one defensive position.
Three-star DE Eli Adams from Rock Hill, South Carolina became Virginia Tech's 12th commit from the Class of 2018, first at DE, and second from the state of South Carolina. Adams had a solid offer list that includes South Carolina, NC State, Kansas State, Maryland, East Carolina, Old Dominion, Middle Tennessee State, Massachusetts, Colorado State, and Charlotte along with the Hokies. Adams is ranked as the 19th best South Carolina recruit by both the 247 Sports Composite and Rivals while also being ranked as the 56th best weakside DE by the 247 Sports Composite.
James Shibest was the primary recruiter according to 247 Sports
and has done well in South Carolina this cycle as the primary for the Hokies' other South Carolina commit, three-star WR Bryce Thompson. Charley Wiles also had an involvement in this recruitment and it's impressive to see how quickly the Hokies have been able to earn a commitment from a South Carolina recruit who was offered by the Gamecocks just over a month after VT offered him.
