Three-Star DL Hank Weber Discusses Recent Virginia Tech Offer

Virginia Tech has sent out a few new offers to recruits in Tennessee this month including one to three-star DL Hank Weber.

He had this to say about his reaction to receiving a VT offer.

"I was extremely excited! I feel like the program is heading in the right direction, and I’m excited to start building relationships at VT," Weber said.

Weber received the offer during a conversation with defensive coordinator Chris Marve and had this to say about how that conversation was overall.

"It was really cool. He is a really nice guy and from what I can see, is a really good coach as well. I'm really excited to get to know him better. It’s also cool that he is from Nashville," Weber said.

This offer shouldn't come as a surprise after he had a solid junior season with 34 tackles including 6 tackles for loss with 3.5 sacks plus 12 additional QB pressures and a fumble recovery for a touchdown. Tech is currently recruiting Weber as a DE though his size at 6'4'' and 260 pounds makes him someone who could clearly grow into a modern, more athletic defensive tackle.

So what are the strengths and weaknesses of his game?

"I feel like my work ethic, speed, and pass rush are strengths. I need to work on my hands, pad level, and overall violence," Weber said.

Looking ahead, Weber told us that he visited West Virginia this past weekend and will be at Auburn this weekend. He also wants to visit for Virginia Tech for spring practices and is looking to visit North Carolina and Vanderbilt soon as well.

So with all that in mind, how does this offer impact his recruitment and where Virginia Tech stands in it?

"I appreciate the offer, and I’m very excited about what Virginia Tech is doing. I am excited to visit campus soon," Weber said.

Virginia Tech is off and running as a contender in the recruitment of Hank Weber after offering him earlier this month.
