Three-Star TE Matt Hoffman Discusses His Virginia Tech Commitment

James Mitchell 1

Virginia Tech has landed a few commitments over the past few days including one from three-star TE Matt Hoffman.

Hoffman was one of two commitments for the Hokies this past Saturday along with four-star LB Xavier Simmons. Hoffman also became the second tight end commit for the Hokies this cycle alongside three-star, in-state standout Harrison Saint Germain.

He had this to say about why he chose the Hokies.

"I just fell in love with the atmosphere here, and the team and coaches were great. It seemed like the perfect spot," Hoffman said.

This decision came days after Hoffman had received an offer from the Hokies at a camp with Tech immediately inviting him back for an official visit this past weekend. Those visits proved quite valuable in his decision making as he told us.

"To me, it sealed the deal. I was already on campus for an unofficial but after seeing more of it and meeting some of the recruits, I was ready to commit then," Hoffman said.

Hoffman also feels that his skill set will fit well at Virginia Tech especially with the versatility he brings to the table.

"I fit in very well. They use their tight ends in a lot of ways and I’m very versatile," Hoffman said.

Tech had been looking at a few different tight ends to join Saint Germain including Jack Nickel and Charlie Kenrich who both took VT officials with Kenrich having committed to Purdue recently. With Hoffman on board, it would be surprising if Tech added another tight end at this point.
