The Virginia Tech Hokies have made offensive line a high priority in the Class of 2018 yet despite having 10 commits already, the Hokies still hadn't gained an offensive line commit. One of the Hokies' top targets for the offensive line has been guard John Harris with the Hokies having made a hard push for months now.
Today, the Hokies received some very good news.
Three-star guard John Harris from Hoschton, Georgia has committed to Virginia Tech today, becoming not only the Hokies first 2018 offensive line commit but also the first 2018 commit from Georgia. Harris has a strong offer list that includes offers from Louisville, Michigan State, Kentucky, North Carolina, West Virginia, Vanderbilt, Minnesota, Virginia, Wake Forest, Duke, Syracuse, and more along with the Hokies.
Harris is also ranked as a top 50 offensive guard recruit by 247 Sports and the 247 Sports Composite while also being a three-star recruit by both 247 Sports rankings and Rivals with ESPN having not rated him yet.
Virginia Tech had Harris right at the top of their offensive line board, making him a priority since they offered him last November and sealing the deal today. Vance Vice led the charge in Harris's recruitment and did a great job in keeping the Hokies in great position even as his offer list grew immensely over 2017 to include a solid list of power 5 schools.
