Virginia Tech’s football schedule was revealed Monday night as the ACC held their schedule reveal show. This season is a transition year for the ACC as the league moves to nine conference games for 12 of the 17 teams while five only have eight conference games before 16 of 17 will have nine every year starting next season.
Here is the schedule below.
- 9/5 vs. VMI
- 9/12 vs. Old Dominion
- 9/19 at Maryland
- 9/26 at Boston College
- 10/2 (Friday) vs. Pittsburgh
- 10/10 at California
- 10/17 vs. Georgia Tech
- 10/24 at Clemson
- 11/6 or 11/7 at SMU
- 11/14 vs. Stanford
- 11/21 (Friday) @ Miami
- 11/29 vs. Virginia
Virginia Tech sits with six home and away games, with five of the road games coming in conference play. Making a year with a bunch of traveling with games in California, SMU, and Miami. The Hokies' open week will be the one following their road trip to Clemson.
Friday games also seem to be a theme this year, with two guaranteed Friday games versus Pittsburgh and at Miami, along with a possibility of a third on SMU, with the ACC having four potential Friday candidates for that week.
The Hokies will have a weaker non-conference schedule with the two Virginia FBS/FCS programs and a trip to College Park, where the Terrapins have been in the bottom half of the Big Ten recently.
For the conference schedule, it is quite the gauntlet, with five of the nine games being against teams who had a 6-2 or 7-1 conference record last year. California and Clemson broke even in conference play, and then there's Boston College, which has been on the bottom of the ACC recently.
Broadcast details and kickoff times will be released the closer we get to the season.
