Virginia Tech hosted their third and final Junior Day of the January recruiting period hosting a larger group of recruits than their previous 2, but a group that included some big time talent including talented 2024 DE Dominic Nichols whose visit went well as he shared with us.
"It was great. I really like the campus and the coaches," Nichols said.
Nichols gave us some insight on some of the things he did during his Junior Day visit as well.
"We toured the facilities and campus and had meetings with our position coaches. We also discussed meal plans and nutrition available at Virginia Tech," Nichols said.
Nichols told us that the weight room and the nutrition planning conversations stood out the most to him during his visit adding this on why that was the case for him.
"The weight room is very high tech and they can make nutrition plans based on your body. If you need to gain or lose weight, they can make it for you," Nichols said.
His visit also included plenty of time with defensive line coach J.C. Price which went well as Nichols shared with us.
"It was good. He's definitely one of my favorite coaches and we talked about coming back down again soon," Nichols said.
So with all that in mind, how did this visit impact his recruitment and where VT stands in it?
"I had Penn State a lot higher on my list before the visit. Now, Penn State and Virginia Tech are about even," Nichols said.
Nichols had this to say about why the Hokies are now "about even" with Penn State in his recruitment.
"They are both elite programs and I really like both coaching staffs," Nichols said.
Virginia Tech made a very strong impression on one of their early top 2024 DL targets in Dominic Nichols with the Hokies set for a battle with Penn State over the coming years.
