Amare Barno has gotten out to a solid start in the 2020 season with recording 3 sacks and 10 total tackles for the Hokies, including 2 sacks and a forced fumble in the victory over Duke.
The redshirt junior has been a key figure of a successful pass rush that has registered 14 sacks and 4 fumbles in only three games this year.
During the offseason, Barno switched over from a linebacker to the defensive line, seeking an expanded role after only appearing in three games during the 2019 season. Justin Fuente recently mentioned that Barno suffered a minor injury during fall camp that caused him to miss some time but despite that, he has adapted quite well at his new position.
This marks the first time that Barno will be representing the #25 jersey in his career at Virginia Tech. It's also the first time that a member of the defensive line will be wearing the number in 2020.
