Virginia Tech Among Multiple Power 5s Interested in JMU RB Commit Jarvis Green

VT Corps 10 VT Miami 2022 HT

It has been a senior season to remember for JMU RB commit Jarvis Green at Dutch Fork HS in Irmo, SC. Green has been a star leading his high school to a state championship while putting up absurd numbers.

In 12 games this season, Green has an absurd 2,031 rushing yards and 30 touchdowns averaging over 9.7 yards per carry while also adding 33 receptions for 478 yards and 5 touchdowns plus 2 kick return touchdowns. Green's production is quite impressive so what are the strengths of his game that have enabled him to put up those numbers?

"My strengths are my vision and elusiveness and to always make the first man miss," Green said.

He committed to JMU before the start of his senior year, but his impressive season has led to numerous bigger programs showing interest including Virginia Tech, Clemson, North Carolina, Iowa State, Boston College, and East Carolina.

Green has specifically been hearing from RBs coach Stu Holt and CBs coach Derek Jones who has also been one of Tech's primary recruiters of South Carolina. He had this to say about how his conversations have been with Stu Holt.

"They have been good. He has been telling me he has been watching my stats every week and just tells me to keep doing what I’m doing," Green said.

He had this to say about his conversations with Derek Jones adding a little insight on Jones' plans for a quick recruiting trip away from Blacksburg next weekend.

"Basically the same thing (as his conversations with Stu Holt), and he said that he will be at my state championship game to watch me play this Saturday," Green said.

So does Green think he could fit in Virginia Tech's offense?

"Yes because I’m a playmaker and I can make plays when they are needed and be a game changer for their offense," Green said.

Looking ahead, Green told us that he is planning to take some visits once his season is completed. He also had this to say about whether he plans to sign during the Early Signing Window coming up or delay to the traditional February Signing Day.

"I do but if anything new comes up I might push it back," Green said.

One thing that may help Virginia Tech in trying to get a visit and even extend it to February if they can't get him on campus prior to the December window is the fact that he has visited previously. Though it did come under the previous staff, the fact that he's been in Blacksburg previously is still a plus.

So how close does Green feel Virginia Tech is to offering him?

"I think I’m really close to getting it," Green said.

Keep an eye on JMU RB commit Jarvis Green who has had an impressive senior season to date and has rightly earned interest from multiple Power 5 programs including Virginia Tech.
