Tevin White has not only emerged as one of the top 2022 recruits in the country, but also one of the best 2022 running backs in America leading to tons of Power 5 programs offering him.
It's still early on for White in his recruitment, but he already has a group of schools standing out.
White told us that Virginia Tech is among seven schools currently standing out for him along with Penn State, Georgia, Tennessee, Duke, Virginia, and Arizona State. He had this to say about why the Hokies are currently standing out for him.
"They have been showing me a lot of love recently and I have a really good relationship with Coach (Adam) Lechtenberg," White said.
White added this about why he has a "really good" relationships with Tech RBs coach Adam Lechtenberg.
"Because over this whole pandemic, we have been keeping in touch and building a good relationship," White said.
Unsurprisingly, Virginia Tech was among the programs who have reached out to White since midnight along with Clemson, Penn State, Louisville, Michigan State, Virginia, Auburn, Tennessee, Duke, Kansas State, West Virginia, Boston College, Arizona State, and Temple.
White specifically heard from head coach Justin Fuente along with Adam Lechtenberg with both reiterating their commitment to continuing to prioritize him and state why they feel White would be a great fit with the Hokies.
Tevin White has taken a visit to Virginia Tech this summer during the dead period which is undoubtedly beneficial while they also have one of his teammates currently committed in Shawn Asbury II.
The teammate connection could be more valuable than normal especially given how different this recruiting cycle has been so far. Player-coach relationships are also normally valuable in recruiting, but the current state of affairs may make them even more important for the 2022 class in their decisions.
While it is still early in his recruitment, Tech has established themselves as a top contender to land the elite North Stafford HS running back.
